The challenge
Decades of material sat on formats nobody could read quickly, described by filenames only the original editor understood. Finding a clip was a research project.
The approach
We centralized production storage, introduced asset management with a metadata scheme the newsroom actually uses, and moved the archive onto a preservation tier with a documented retrieval path.
The outcome
Editors now find and pull material the same day. The archive became an asset instead of a liability.
